Need help with 3.6L Pentastar timing chain! I have a 2013 GC that just rolled over 150k miles. The rattle started a year ago and I've opened up the drive train several times to replace rockers, then lifters, then the right bank (1) exhaust camshaft. My budget only allowed me to do one thing at a time because 24 rockers is $240, 24 lifter is
Once you have tightened everything back up. Put your key in the ignition and turn the car on and then off immediately (So as soon as it turns over turn it off) - Do this 3 times and then let your engine run for as long as you want to. This is just to get the oil flowing again.

Similar steps on the R52/R53/Cooper S, with addition Generally from what I understand, is that a timing CHAIN will be good to 100k in most cars. The longest timing CHAIN replacement interval I have ever heard of is 120k in Volvo S60R's. My previous Subaru Impreza manual specified 105k for timing CHAIN replacement. On the other hand, my Geo prism (college car) recomended 60k for its timing BELT. A common misconception is that timing chains are a lifetime component but this is not the case. Timing belts have set replacement intervals typically between 40,000 and 100,000 miles depending on the vehicle. However, because timing chains are lubricated by the engine oil, their level of wear can vary depending on how well serviced the vehicle is.
With that being said, for some context here are my Oil change intervals. purchased car in October 2017. November 2017- 26,500 miles - pennzoil platinum euro 5w-40. November 2018 - 35,443 miles -pennzoil 5w-40. November 2019 - 41, 784 - pennzoil 5w-40. September 2020 - 46,663 - pennzoil 5w-40.
